Electrical Engineering

Engineering

Module Overview:
This module offers an introduction to practical, real-world engineering by challenging you to design, develop, present, and operate a device that meets a detailed technical specification. You will gain experience working collaboratively to solve an engineering problem that incorporates both mechanical and electrical components. After gaining approval for your team’s design, you will move forward with the construction and testing phase. High-performing designs may be selected to represent the institution in the national IMechE Design Challenge, competing against teams from across the country.

Key Topics Include:

  • Fundamentals of the engineering design process

  • Basics of computer-aided design (CAD), covering both 2D and 3D modelling

  • Engineering design standards and methods, with an emphasis on sustainability

  • Legal and ethical responsibilities in engineering practice

  • Team dynamics and collaborative tools

  • Introduction to quality assurance and control systems

Please note that the module content may be updated to align with course validation requirements and to enhance employability by reflecting current developments in engineering and technology.
